Mickey 17 is the latest project from Bong Joon-ho, a director who was successful at the 2020 Oscars. Mickey 17 synopsis tells the story of a suicide mission to find life on an ice planet, but uniquely, when the person dies on the mission, he will rise with a new body but still with the same memories.
Bong Joon-ho collaborated with Robert Pattinson for this project. This sci-fi themed movie adapts the novel titled Mickey7 by Edward Ashton which was released in 2022.
1. Mickey 17 Movie Synopsis
Mickey 17 tells the story of Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson) who is sent on a mission to a dangerous new planet. Barnes has the code name Mickey7 will act as a subject in an experiment on an ice planet found by humans.
Mickey is given a series of missions to study the new planet. If he dies during one of the missions, he will rise again in a different body, but with the same memories.
After experiencing various deaths, Mickey began to realize the actions he was taking and the reason why no one else had ever taken on the mission before. In truth, Mickey did not fully understand what he had to do with his assignment, including his readiness to sacrifice his life. Nonetheless, he didn’t mind giving his life to complete the mission.
However, a big surprise occurred. Mickey’s previous body or consciousness, which was dead, was still alive. In the end, all six of Mickey’s bodies must live together. These clones called Multiples must be destroyed according to the rules of the mission.

At first, Mickey 17 the movie had a scheduled release on March 29, 2024. However, Warner Bros. later postponed the film’s release date. This delay, according to a report from Variety, was reportedly due to the need for additional time to complete the production stage of Mickey 17.
Finally, Warner Bros. released the official trailer on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, and the production announced that the film will hit theaters worldwide on January 31, 2025.
