Stephen King’s name is synonymous with the horror novel genre. Now, one of his works entitled Salem’s Lot will get a movie adaptation. The synopsis of Salem’s Lot itself tells the story of a small town in Maine that is terrorized by vampires.
The film was directed by Gary Dauberman, who previously directed the film Annabelle Comes Home which was released in 2019.
The novel Salem’s Lot has captured the attention of readers since it was first published in 1975, and has even been adapted into a television series several times.
1. Salem’s Lot Synopsis
Salem’s Lot tells the story of a writer named Ben Mears who returns to the small Maine town of Jerusalem’s Lot, or Salem’s Lot. Ben, who lived there as a child, senses something strange and eerie about Marsten House, an old mansion that has long been uninhabited and is notorious for being haunted.
As she set out to write a novel about the house, strange things began to happen. Residents of Salem’s Lot began to fall ill one by one, then disappeared or were found dead under mysterious circumstances. During the investigation, Ben discovers that an ancient vampire named Kurt Barlow has turned the residents into blood-sucking creatures.

2. Not the First Adaptation
The movie Salem’s Lot was not the first adaptation of the novel. Four years after its release, the book was turned into a two-part miniseries that aired on CBS, with David Soul playing Mears, which earned three Emmy Awards nominations.
The feature film that followed the miniseries, titled “A Return to Salem’s Lot,” was released in 1987. Additionally, in 2021, Epix launched “Chapelwaite,” a series inspired by King’s prequel short story “Jerusalem’s Lot,” featuring Adrien Brody and Emily Hampshire.
3. Release Date
Horror movie fans are eagerly waiting for this movie. Because in addition to adapting Stephen King’s novel, director Gary Dauberman has also become famous through the Annabelle trilogy. In addition, the presence of James Wan in the production team adds to its appeal.
The film was first announced in 2019 with a planned release in theaters in September 2022. However, the schedule suffered several delays and will eventually air on Max’s platform. Salem’s Lot will premiere on October 3, 2024.
