News of Robert Pattinson’s The Batman entering the DCU has been circulating since last September. A source, Jeff Sneider, mentioned that Warner Bros. CEO, David Zaslav, wanted Batman to appear on the big screen soon to compete with phase six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
However, the DCU project titled The Brave and the Bold which is planned to introduce Batman in the DCU has no release schedule yet. In addition, director Andy Muschetti also revealed that the movie has been postponed as he is currently involved in another project.
Matt Reeves’ answer about The Batman coming to DCU
Rumors about Robert Pattinson’s possible role as Batman in the DC Universe (DCU) continue. Although there is no certainty, the director of The Batman movie, Matt Reeves, remains open to the possibility, as long as the decision is “logical”.
In an interview on the red carpet of the 82nd Golden Globes, Reeves responded to DC Studios CEO James Gunn’s statement.
Gunn previously stated that there were internal talks regarding the possibility of incorporating Pattinson as The Batman into the DCU, although it has yet to materialize. However, Reeves revealed that he remains open to the possibility. “Of course, as long as it makes sense,” Reeves said.
Reeves explained that he is currently concentrating on a story project he named The Epic Crime Saga, which is an important element of The Batman universe.
“What was interesting was that James and Peter really supported my vision. They gave us the freedom to develop the story we wanted to tell. However, about the future, it all depends on whether it makes sense to implement,” he said.
Now, Reeves is prioritizing the completion of The Batman Part II, even though the project has been put on hold. “Right now, my mind is on shooting The Batman Part II and making sure it’s something great. That’s my top priority right now,” Reeves said.
Although there is still no certainty regarding Pattinson’s presence as The Batman in the DCU, Reeves’ statement provides an interesting hope for the future. Let’s wait together how the story of The Batman continues and whether Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne will join the DCU.
