According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jon Bernthal has officially returned as The Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Although details about the storyline have yet to be revealed, the presence of The Punisher indicates that the movie will have a darker and more realistic atmosphere.
This is a much-anticipated moment, especially since Spider-Man and The Punisher have never officially appeared together in one movie before.
The Punisher’s MCU debut through Brand New Day

Since the collaboration between Sony and Marvel in 2015, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has officially become part of the MCU universe. He has joined the action alongside famous characters like Iron Man, Doctor Strange, and Nick Fury.
However, there are still many fans who yearn for a moment where Spidey can meet Marvel’s street heroes, including Daredevil and of course, The Punisher. Now, one of those wishes has finally come true.
In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Jon Bernthal will appear as The Punisher, marking his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While it’s not certain if Daredevil will appear alongside him in the movie, The Punisher’s presence alone is enough to drastically increase fan enthusiasm.
Apart from Jon Bernthal, the movie will also feature Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned. However, it is unclear how big their roles are in this movie.
In addition, there is one new name that is stealing the show, and that is Sadie Sink, although the character she is playing is still under wraps. There are speculations that she might be playing Gwen Stacy or even a new version of Mary Jane Watson.
The Punisher’s Brutal Style is Gone?

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026. With an increasingly interesting cast lineup and a storyline that goes back to its core, this movie is worth looking forward to.
Interestingly, The Punisher will also reportedly get a special program on Disney+, where part of the script is written by Jon Bernthal himself. However, the release time for the show is still unknown.
The Punisher has previously appeared in Daredevil: Born Again, where he was seen trapped in Kingpin’s headquarters but managed to escape in the post-credit scene. The question is, will Brand New Day address Kingpin’s conflict with the vigilantes? Although there has been no official statement, the possibility certainly remains.
Now the question is, how can the Punisher, who has a brutal style, be relevant to the concept of Spider-Man films which are generally rated PG-13? Will the character appear more calmly, or will he still maintain his violent nature? Let’s wait for further developments.
