The Trailer for The Conjuring: Last Rites Reveals Warren’s Last Case

Warner Bros has released the trailer for The Conjuring: Last Rites which will chronicle the final case the Warrens face.

The Warrens are back for their latest case. Warner Bros released the first official trailer for The Conjuring: Last Rites, which marks the end of the fourth installment of The Conjuring series.

Nonetheless, this horror movie may not mark the end of the entire series. Like the previous films, this latest installment in the Conjuring franchise is inspired by the true story of Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga), a married couple famous for their work in paranormal investigation.

This time they will uncover the events that happened to the Smurl family in 1986, who suffered a series of intrusions by evil entities for over a decade.

In the first trailer, Ed Warren (Patrick Wilson) answers questions related to the various cases he and his wife Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) have faced.

He also shows them a collection of historical objects with mystical value that they must carefully guard, such as an Annabelle doll, a painting that is said to be inhabited by an evil entity called Valak, and various other cursed items. While reminiscing about their achievements about 1,000 cases ago, a new evil threat emerges that they must face.

Just like the previous movie, The Conjuring: Last Rites takes inspiration from a true story that The Warrens experienced. This time, they take on the case of the Smurl family in 1986, a family that has been suffering from a demonic presence for over ten years.

“Every case is different. Every family is different. Once we start, there is no going back. Anything can happen. And most likely, anything will happen,” Ed says in the trailer.

Lorraine then told Ed that the Smurl case was the riskiest situation they had experienced in their entire career. With conviction, she stated that there was something unusual about the case.

In the middle of the trailer, there is a narration that explains that Last Rites will provide an explanation as to why Smurl was the last case that Ed and Lorraine Warren faced.

The trailer ends with Lorraine standing facing the evil creature hidden in the corner of the room, saying, “We’ve been patiently awaiting your arrival,” and then jumping toward it.
