The Wild Robot is a Dream Works animated film by director Chris Sanders. The synopsis of The Wild Robot tells the story of a robot stranded on an uninhabited island, he must adapt to the wild animals there.
Chris Sanders has previously worked on several iconic animated films, including Lilo & Stitch (2002) and How to Train Your Dragon (2010). The movie adapts the book series of the same name by Peter Brown.
1. The Wild Robot Synopsis
A cargo ship belonging to the Universal Dynamics company was caught in a typhoon and lost some of the ROZZUM robots they were carrying. However, one robot survived the incident and was stranded on a remote uninhabited island.
The robot, known as ROZZUM unit 7134, or simply Roz, was accidentally activated by wild animals on the island. Roz was designed as a multifunctional robot, so it immediately offered assistance to the wildlife who were clearly frightened at the sight of it.
Roz then tried to return home by contacting the manufacturer, but was confronted by a grizzly bear named Thorn. During this situation, she accidentally damaged a goose nest, but one goose egg survived.
The egg hatches and the chick inside immediately thinks of Roz as its mother. Despite failing to return home, Roz ends up having to take responsibility for caring for the chick, including feeding it and teaching it how to swim.
Roz named the baby goose Brightbill. Over time, Roz also formed friendships with various other animals, one of which was a fox named Fink.
However, raising geese while surviving in the wild turns out to be no easy feat for Roz. What’s more, there are other robots threatening animal life on the island, so Roz faces a difficult choice: stay or leave the island.

The Wild Robot first screened at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, 2024. Since then, the film has been making regular appearances in theaters in various countries, including North America. Currently, The Wild Robot’s box office revenue has reached US$104.3 million, which has exceeded its production cost of US$78 million.
The Wild Robot will hit theaters on October 11, 2024.
