Indonesian director Timo Tjahjanto has once again been commissioned to direct a Hollywood action movie sequel. Timo Tjahjanto will direct The Beekeeper 2, which will again feature action actor Jason Statham.
According to Deadline, the sequel to last year’s shocking action movie will begin filming next fall.
The sequel to The Beekeeper 2 is expected to bring more interesting storylines and exciting action. Although the plot details are still a secret, fans can’t wait to see Jason Statham return as Adam Clay.
Timo Tjahjanto, who is known for directing thrilling action scenes, will certainly be one of the main attractions of this movie.
Timo Tjahjanto replaces David Ayer in The Beekeeper 2
While there is no certainty whether David Ayer, who directed the first movie, will be back on board as a producer, the studio is looking to invite him back for this project. On the other hand, the involvement of Kurt Wimmer, the scriptwriter of the previous movie, is also yet to be announced for the sequel.
David Ayer’s The Beekeeper tells the story of a former intelligence agent who takes revenge after his loved one falls victim to a government scam.
Produced by Amazon MGM Studios, the movie features acting from Emmy Raver-Lampman, Josh Hutcherson, Bobby Naderi, Phylicia Rashad, Jemma Redgrave, and Jeremy Irons. As of now, only Jason Statham has been confirmed to return for the sequel.
Originally, David Ayer was going to direct the sequel. However, he is currently busy working on The Heart of the Beast featuring Brad Pitt and J.K. Simmons. On the other hand, with Timo Tjahjanto as director, The Beekeeper 2 is guaranteed to deliver more thrilling action and have its own unique style.
This is the second sequel that Timo is working on after the movie Nobody 2 starring Bob Odenkirk and Sharon Stone. Filming for Nobody 2 has been completed and is scheduled to hit theaters in August this year.
Previously, Timo has also completed several projects for Netflix, including the movie The Night Comes for Us, The Big 4, and The Shadow Strays which was released in 2024.
