Tom Hardy is one of the famous actors who played Eddie Brock in Venom. Because of his incredible role as Eddie Brock, many Marvel fans are hoping that Venom will join the MCU. But unfortunately, one of the post-credit scenes in Spider-Man: No Way Home confirms that Tom Hardy’s Venom will not be joining the MCU.

In case you’ve forgotten, Venom originally came to the MCU as part of the multiverse, post-credit Venom 2. Doctor Strange’s failed spell on Spider-Man: No Way Home brought everyone who knew Peter Parker was Spider-Man into the MCU. As a Symbiote being, Venom can know the contents of its host’s mind.

The continuation of the scene appears in the post-credits of Spider-Man: No Way Home. We see Eddie Brock talking to a bartender explaining that the universe is filled with superheroes.

Well just when Eddie was about to search for Spider-Man’s whereabouts, he was sent back to his universe. When Eddi was sent back, there was a small piece of Symbiote Venom left behind. Of course, the decision to bring back Venom was surprising.

Fans had hoped that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Tom Hardy’s Venom would meet. Instead of fulfilling fans’ expectations, it kicked Venom out of the MCU.

If you notice, Venom hasn’t appeared in the MCU fully so far, the reason why is because of licensing. Sony and Marvel Studios’ partnership is quite complicated when it comes to sharing characters.

Sony owns the rights to the Spider-Man movies and characters, including Venom. While the studio is working with Marvel Studios on Holland’s Spidey, characters like Venom, Morbius, and Kraven the Hunter exist in a different universe.

Sony could borrow characters from Marvel such as Iron Man, Nick Fury, or Doctor Strange. But technically the MCU also borrowed Spider-Man. Although Tom Hardy’s Venom did not join the MCU, there is a possibility of a different Venom joining the MCU.

So in Marvel comics, there are several characters who are host to the Venom Symbiote, namely Peter Parker, Flash Thompson to Mac Gargan. It is likely that Flash Thompson will be the MCU’s Venom.

The problem is that he has become a side character who repeatedly appears in the Spider-Man MCU film. Another option is that the MCU might use a different actor to play Eddie Brock.

This is the explanation of why Tom Hardy’s Venom did not join the MCU. After reading this article, what do you think about Eddie Brock being returned to the Sony universe? Don’t forget to keep visiting Dafunda.
