Why James Gunn Changed the Title of Superman: DCU Legacy

James Gunn reveals the reason why he changed the title of the movie Superman: Legacy to just Superman in this DCU.

Recently, James Gunn revealed why he changed the title of the latest Superman movie to just “Superman” without the “Legacy” appendage in the DCU.

According to Gunn, his team agreed that “Superman” was the most appropriate title. He also added that since 1979, there hasn’t been a movie that only uses the title “Superman” without any frills.

Gunn announced the title change on Superman’s birthday, which was also the first day of production for the highly anticipated superhero movie.

Earlier, he hinted that the final script of the Superman movie also influenced the decision to drop the word “Legacy” from the title.

“When I finished the final script, it was clear that the title would be ‘Superman’.”

David Corenswet will play Clark Kent/Kal-El/Superman in the movie. He takes over the role that George Reeves, Christopher Reeve, Brandon Routh, and Henry Cavill previously played.

In the movie, she will act alongside Rachel Brosnahan who will replace Amy Adams in the role of Lois Lane.

Some of the other actors who have been confirmed to appear in the movie include Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, and Terence Rosemore as Otis. The Superman movie will be the beginning of the DCU and is definitely worth waiting for.

Although the majority of the Superman movie will be shot at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, the movie is also planned to be shot in Cleveland, where Superman is from, and Cincinnati.

Interestingly, in Cincinnati there is the Union Terminal train station, which is similar in design to the Hall of Justice.

Speculation has surfaced that this exterior location will be the DCU’s Hall of Justice, but this remains unconfirmed at this time.

The story details for the Superman movie are still a secret at the moment. Although Gunn has revealed that the movie will follow the hero’s journey as he tries to adapt to being a hero on Earth.

This reboot will also not explain the origins of the Man of Steel, but will instead start with Clark Kent already active as a superhero in Metropolis while working at the Daily Planet.
