Yes, as you can see through the announcement poster upload above, the band will hold its first concert in Indonesia on November 15, 2023. The concert itself will be located at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK), Jakarta.

Now to welcome this monumental moment, let’s take a look back at the 10 best and most enjoyable Coldplay songs so far. Keep in mind that the 10 songs on this list are very SUBJECTIVE.

1. Yellow (2000)

The best and most enjoyable song from Chris Martin’s band is the second single release from the band’s debut album, Parachutes (2000).

Although it was the second single release, it was ‘Yellow’ that skyrocketed the band’s name and career. Even until this moment, ‘Yellow’is still very resonant. Even for me personally, ‘Yellow’is a song that I still hear and sing over and over again.

Aside from the fact that the song is great and the composition is really crazy, it’s the simplicity that makes this song so memorable until now.

2. Shiver (2000)

The second song on this list is the band’s debut single release from London, England.

Unlike ‘Yellow’which was released afterward, which has a much more mature and mature sound, ‘Shiver’really sounds like an average first song release from a singer or band.

It’s really an Alternative Rock sound that still shows Martin’s desire to rock out. But fortunately, the rocking in this song is not perfunctory. Alias, it’s still good in both ears.

3. Trouble (2000)

The third release from the Parachutes album, this song was Martin’s first super hit ballad number.

Once again, it is simplicity that makes ‘Trouble’a great song and a real hit. With only Martin’s expertise in playing the tinkling piano notes and the fragility of his vocals, this song successfully reached our hearts.

4. Clocks (2002)

This single second release from the second album, A Rush of Blood to the Head is undeniably something we heard a lot when it was released in 2002-2003.

Anyway, it’s impossible not to listen to it. Again and again, it’s Martin’s tinkling piano notes (especially in the intro) that make this song click in both ears.

Will Champion’s aggressive drum beats only enhance the song.

5. The Scientist (2002)

This song also dominated radio and television stations everywhere at that time. Especially on television. Because the video clip ‘The Scientist’ has a unique concept but still simple.

For the music composition itself, the sound is still very Coldplay. But in my opinion, the sound in ‘The Scientist’can be said to be a template or inspiration for other musicians. Especially Indonesia’s top alternative band, Nidji.

6. In My Place (2002)

Just like ‘The Scientist’, ‘Yellow,’and other songs, ‘In My Place’when it was released, it was immediately on the radio and television.

Sound this song even to me, sounds very unique and different. Although it still sounds very Coldplay. Will Champion’s drum beat is again the main highlight.

7. Viva La Vida (2008)

This song is arguably Coldplay’s most commercial and grande release. But that’s okay. Because ‘Viva La Vida’is a really fun song.

It’s so fun and commercial that it’s become one of the favorites to sing when doing karaoke with friends.

8. Fix You (2005)

It’s probably Coldplay’s most successful ballad and one that we sing often to this day.

And no wonder. Because ‘Fix You’is a song that is a “complete package.” Starting from the tension and composition of music, lyrics, Martin’s falsetto voice, to of course the super passionate Champion drum beat.

As a result, it’s no wonder that this song is one of the most perfect songs ever.

9. Cry, Cry, Cry (2019)

Coldplay singing a genre Doo-Wop Jazzy song from the 40s and 50s? Well, if we think about it, it’s pretty much impossible on both ears.

But that’s exactly what we hear through ‘Cry, Cry, Cry’this. And the fact is that Martin and his friends really succeeded in performing this song.

Anyway, if you’re like me who really likes the songs of that decade, ‘Cry, Cry, Cry’is a must-listen.

10. Every Teardrop is a Waterfall (2011)

For me, this song is a Coldplay song that when it was released, was very literate. Why do I say that?

Because the music composition ‘Every Teardrop is a Waterfall’sounds like sound songs that we often heard in 2010-2011. That is, it sounds super modern and futuristic. But the cool thing is that at the same time, it still sounds very Coldplay.

And again, the main factor I like is Champion’s cool drum beat that closes the song in a very cool and powerful way.

Out of the 10 Coldplay songs on this list, which one is your favorite?
