About Golden Disc Awards
The Golden Disc Awards is an award show that first took place in 1986. Since then, it has been awarded annually by the South Korean Music Industry Association for outstanding achievements in the South Korean music industry.
And in 2023, the event will have reached its 37th edition. The awards will be held at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on 7 January 2023.
According to CNN Indonesia, the final winners for Bonsang (Grand Award) and Daesang (Grand Prize) are selected based on 60 percent of sales calculations until mid-December 2022 and 40 percent based on assessment by a panel of experts. The same evaluation criteria apply to the selection of the Rookie Artist of the Year winner. Meanwhile, voting will only be available for the Popularity Award, which is 100 percent determined by voting.
One of the main requirements to be nominated for Album Division Bonsang, the grand prize of the Golden Disc Awards. is to have six new songs, excluding intros, outros, and instrumentals. Meanwhile, theme songs or original soundtracks and television program project songs are not considered for nomination.
Thus, several albums have been nominated. Such as BORN PINK (BLACKPINK), Proof (BTS), Jack in the Box (J-Hope BTS). Universe (NCT), 2 Baddies (NCT 127), Glitch Mode (NCT Dream), Face the Sun (SEVENTEEN) and IM HERO (Lim Young-woong).
