4 Demon Slayer who became Demons in Kimetsu no Yaiba Stories
1. Genya Shinazugawa
Genya Shinazugawa is a new demon slayer just like Tanjirou. The reason she joined the organization was because she wanted to follow in the footsteps of her brother, Sanemi Shinazugawa, who was one of the Pillars.
Genya hopes to get recognition from Sanemi who has always underestimated him. Genya has unique characteristics.
He couldn’t master the Basic Breathing Technique like other demon slayer , so he had to rely on shotgun weapons to fight demons.
However, in the story “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Swordsmith Village (2023)”, it is revealed that Genya has the ability to transform into a demon by eating their body parts.
By using this method, Genya can use the Blood Demon Art. Once the demonic power is finished being absorbed by his body, Genya will return to normal. However, sometimes this ability makes Genya lose control and become full of rage.
2. Kaigaku
Kaigaku is a peer of Zenitsu Agatsuma. He used to be an expert in the Thunder Breathing Technique who later left the Demon Slayer Corps to join the demon side.
In the Hashira Training Arc, Kaigaku meets Kokushibo and finally surrenders for fear of being killed. Kaigaku is a selfish young man who only thinks of his own interests.
In the Infinity Castle Arc story, it is revealed that Kaigaku eventually became the sixth-ranked Upper Moon Demon, replacing Gyutaro and Daki.
After turning into a demon, he has the ability to control real lightning by using his Lightning Breathing Technique. Kaigaku’s lightning is black in color and made from his blood.
3. Kokushibo/Michikatsu Tsugikuni
Michikatsu Tsugikuni is the twin brother of Yoriichi Tsugikuni, who was the first Demon Slayer.
Since childhood, she felt that she always lost to Yoriichi. This made him feel jealous and envious. Feeling that he could not match Yoriichi with his own strength, Michikatsu accepted an offer from the Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji, to be turned into a demon.
Michikatsu was later reincarnated as a demon named Kokushibo. Using the Moon Breathing Technique and his experience as the second strongest Demon Hunter, he managed to earn the position as the first ranked Upper Moon Demon.
The Blood Demon Art used by Kokushibo is his ability to summon katanas from his body. Kokushibo became Muzan’s strongest subordinate, requiring even the three strongest Pillars to defeat him.
4. Tanjiro
No one expected that the main character in this series would turn into a demon. In chapter 201 of this manga, a surprising result is revealed after the Demon Slayer Corps managed to defeat Muzan Kibutsuji, the Demon King.
However, despite being defeated, Muzan still managed to infect Tanjiro with his blood.
As a result, Tanjiro eventually turned into a demon and attacked members of the Demon Slayer Corps.
Luckily, Giyu Tomioka managed to restrain Tanjiro until he could be recovered with the help of a special medicine from Kanao Tsuyuri. If not for the antidote, Tanjiro might have become the new Demon King after Muzan took control of his body.
