Rengoku died in the Mugen Train Arc. So Rengoku, Tanjiro, Inosuke and Zenitsu got the task of checking a train that was said to have a demon. It is true that there is a demon on the train and they managed to overcome it. But it turned out that there was an Upper Moon Akaza demon who came, then Rengoku fought with Akaza.

Given that Rengoku was always excited, and Akaza would continue to be strong if his enemy was excited, it was overwhelming for Rengoku. Because Rengoku was human and had received many wounds, he died while fighting Akaza.
