Sage Mode is a high-level chakra phase found in the Naruto world, and only a few users can achieve it. In this stage of chakra, users can absorb the natural chakra around them.
Sage Mode is renowned as one of the most powerful abilities, significantly increasing its user’s strength, speed, and perception abilities. However, Sage Mode can only last for a limited time.
Although extremely powerful, few shinobi have managed to attain this honorable status, and even fewer have mastered its use to perfection.

List of the Strongest Sage Mode Users in Naruto
Below are some of the strongest sage mode users in the Naruto story.
10. Fukasaku
Fukasaku is an old frog from Mount Myoboku who is known as the teacher of Sage Mode. He passed on his teachings to Jiraiya and Naruto Uzumaki. Although not as strong as Jiraiya and Naruto, Fukasaku is still a fearsome opponent.
The character Fukasaku is skilled in Frog Kumite, which increases speed, stamina, and reflexes when fighting. He can also trap opponents in powerful genjutsu and limit the Six Paths of Pain with his Sage ability. Despite this, Fukasaku excels at teaching his techniques rather than practicing them.
9. Gamakichi
Just like Fukasaku, Gamakichi, Naruto’s summoner frog also mastered Sage Mode very well. He always accompanies Naruto on various adventures and can even pass on his knowledge to the next generation.
It is unknown when Gamakichi learned Sage Mode as the story does not focus on him. However, his progress was seen during the Fourth Great Ninja War, when he helped Naruto identify Obito’s vulnerability to Senjustu’s chakra. His younger brother, Gamabunta, also possesses the same powers and talents.
8. Jugo
Jugo comes from a clan full of mystery. He has the ability to automatically absorb natural energy, allowing him to reach Sage Mode without having to train. Despite its impressive abilities, the Kekkei Genkai brings a lot of suffering to its members, especially to Jugo himself.
The constant absorption of Sage chakra makes clan members very angry. This Kekkei Genkai can be a great way to achieve Sage Mode if mastered. Orochimaru studied Jugo’s body and discovered the secret of his transformation in Ryuchi Cave.
7. Mitsuki
Mitsuki, Orochimaru’s only son is a synthetic human who is often regarded as ‘perfect’. At only 13 years old, his strength is already on par with ordinary jonin, which shows how great his abilities are. Many of these powers are related to her Sage Mode.
By utilizing Jugo’s Kekkei Genkai derived from Orochimaru, Mitsuki was able to access Sage Mode without the need to train. However, this power is not fueled by the emotion of anger. Orochimaru explained that when Mitsuki uses her power to the fullest, her potential can exceed that of the Legendary Sannin.
6. Jiraiya
Jiraiya, also known as the Frog Hermit, is a talented shinobi in the Naruto series and a member of the Legendary Sannin. He has extraordinary skills, including Hermit Mode, but prefers not to rely on them because he feels they make him look “ugly” and “unpopular” in the eyes of women.
Jiraiya’s Sage Mode is imperfect and causes a frog-like transformation. Even so, he gains better mobility and durability. In battle, Jiraiya relies on Fukasaku and Shima to gather nature chakra, so that he can maintain his Sage Mode longer.
5. Kabuto Yakushi
After Orochimaru died, Kabuto Yakushi lost his identity and became obsessed with power. He consumes the remains of his master’s body and injects himself with various Kekkei Genkai, including that of Jugo. Kabuto then secluded himself in Ryuchi Cave to study the Sage Arts, which made him stronger than Orochimaru.
Kekkei Genkai Jugo helped Kabuto maintain his form for longer and gave him the strength to challenge Sasuke and Itachi. Although Kabuto ultimately lost, his Snake Hermit Mode remains a force to be reckoned with thanks to the Uchiha brothers’ intelligence and teamwork.
4. Minato Namikaze
Minato, the Fourth Hokage of Konoha, is Jiraiya’s disciple and is considered one of the strongest. He is famous for his Flying Lightning God Style and is nicknamed “Yellow Lightning”. In addition, Minato also has a perfect Hermit Mode, characterized by marks around his eyes.
Minato prefers to finish fights quickly, so he rarely enters Sage Mode. Although it was difficult for him to maintain this form, he was able to enter Sage Mode almost instantly, showing very impressive skills.
3. Hashirama Senju
Hashirama Senju, the founder of Konoha and first Hokage, was the strongest ninja of his time. His superior ninjutsu and Kekkei Genkai skills, as well as years of training, made him a Sage Mode user.
Hashirama is believed to have attained Sage Mode in the Shikkotsu Forest, with abilities that were quite extraordinary. He was able to combine this technique with wood elemental chakra, making him powerful enough to fight both the Nine-Tailed Fox and Madara Uchiha at once, showing how fearsome he was as a ninja in his prime.
2. Naruto Uzumaki
Naruto Uzumaki, known as the strongest shinobi and the “Son of Prophecy,” has developed many powers, including Sage Mode. He managed to perfect his Frog Sage Mode quickly after training at Mount Myoboku under Fukasaku.
After becoming the perfect Jinchuriki, Naruto overcame the time limit of his Sage Mode. He utilizes Kurama to collect Sage Chakra, increasing his power. In addition, he also inherited the Six Path Mode Sage from Hagoromo Otsutsuki, making him an even stronger threat.
1. Hagoromo Otsutsuki
In the Naruto anime, Hagoromo Otsutsuki is a Toad Sage user from Mount Myoboku. He achieved this ability after being trained by Gamamaru and, with his Six Path Power, he awakened the Six Path Senjustu, which is a stronger version of Sage Mode.
Hagoromo’s ability to utilize Sage Mode puts him on the same level as his mother in terms of power. He can pass on this power to the next generation, such as his son Ashura and also Naruto Uzumaki, thanks to his position as a god.
