WhatsApp, Meta’s instant messaging app, recently launched a series of feature updates, the most notable of which is the ability to share moving photos, known as Live Photos (for iOS devices) and Motion Photos (for Android).
This feature offers users a new way to share more dynamic moments. Previously, users could only send static photos, but now you can include short movements lasting one to two seconds and built-in sounds.
In its official announcement, WhatsApp stated that the Live and Motion Photos features are part of a series of major updates that have been rolled out gradually over the past few months. In addition to the moving photo sharing feature, WhatsApp has also introduced a number of other new options and features to improve the personalization and functionality of the app.
List of New WhatsApp Features

WhatsApp is enhancing the user experience by adding several features focused on personalization and expression:
1. New Chat Theme with Meta AI
WhatsApp has now expanded its existing chat theme options. With the help of Meta AI’s artificial intelligence assistant, users can personalize and create chat themes according to their individual tastes, resulting in a unique look for their chat rooms.
2. New Package Sticker
To provide alternatives for expressing feelings, WhatsApp has expanded its sticker collection. Several new packs, such as Fearless Bird and Vacation, have been added.
The characters in these stickers are designed to represent the user’s feelings without the need to type words, making conversations more exciting and expressive.
3. Background of AI for Video Calls
WhatsApp also offers a background feature with Meta AI support for video calls.
Users can choose or create a background of their choice, giving them the flexibility to create their favorite atmosphere or try out a new look. You can also apply this AI background when users take photos or videos directly in the chat.
Improved Functionality and Efficiency
In addition to personalization, WhatsApp has also improved the efficiency and functionality of its application:
4. Easier Group Search
Recognizing that users often forget or have difficulty finding chat groups, WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that makes it easier to search for groups.
Users now only need to type the name of one of the members in the group in the chat tab of the application. The application will automatically display a list of groups that the user follows and members of those groups, making group searches faster and more practical.
5. Document Scanners on Android
The last important update is the addition of a document scanning feature for Android users. Previously, this feature was only available for iOS users.
Now, Android users can scan, crop, save, and instantly send documents without the need for third-party apps, experiencing the same convenience directly within the WA app.
Although these features have been announced, it should be noted that the launch will be gradual (rollout). Therefore, users may need to wait a while until these new features are fully available on their WhatsApp accounts.
