The Adolescence series gained 24.3 million viewers in its first week of airing on Netflix. Of course, viewers are expecting Adolescence season 2, but the question is, will Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne make it happen?
Although watching it can be tough, everyone agrees that the series is so important. Adolescence is one of the most prominent series, not just this year, but probably this decade.
Adolescence is a one-shot series that takes the genre to another level and is the best crime drama you should watch this year. The story centers on a 13-year-old boy who gets accused of murder.
Director Stephen Graham also plays the father, a hardworking man who tries to understand his son’s actions. Each episode is shot in a single scene to illustrate how the child’s crime affects the family and society.
Adolescence managed to catch the attention of many thanks to its important themes and unique presentation, and the series even received a 99% score on Rotten Tomatoes from critics.
Can Adolescence season 2 be realized?

It looks like there won’t be a second season for the series “Adolescence”, despite its success. Thorne said in his interview with ITV that Jamie’s story is finished. “I feel like there’s nothing more to explore with Jamie, so I don’t think there will be a second season,” he said.
Thorne also turned down a proposal to make a second series focusing on Katie. She said, “We’re not the right people to tell Katie’s story. There are other creators out there who can create beautiful dramas about Katie, or girls like Katie, and those shows should be made.”
He added, “We wanted to tell Jamie’s story as well as we could, but if we tried to tell his story, maybe it would detract from the meaning of the story and we might not feel like we could do it well.”
Director Philip Barantini agrees with this view. “Personally, I don’t think there should be a follow-up series. I feel it’s a work that should stand on its own and depict this particular moment,” he told Independent.
