Lady Gaga will soon be collaborating with the Addams Family, the singer and actress who appeared in Joker: Folie à Deux has joined Wednesday season 2 on Netflix.
Gaga’s appointment also comes after Wednesday fans combined her “Bloody Mary” song from 2011 with footage of Jenna Ortega dancing in the popular Netflix series, which went viral with over 518 million views on YouTube.
1. Lady Gaga role in Wednesday Season 2 yet to be revealed
According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, Gaga will appear in a role in Wednesday season 2. Although details about her role have yet to be revealed, the singer-actress is already on set in Europe filming her scenes.
Gaga is the latest addition to Wednesday’s cast list, joining names like Steve Buscemi, Thandiwe Newton, Christopher Lloyd, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, and Joonas Suotamo, who will all officially debut in the upcoming season.
The first season of Wednesday airs on Netflix in November 2022, telling the story of Wednesday Addams who attends Nevermore Academy. She attempts to master her newly emerging psychic abilities, stop a series of gruesome murders plaguing the city of Jericho, as well as solve a mystery that’s been around for 25 years.
Wednesday season 1 became very successful for Netflix, often breaking Nielsen records for streaming viewership. The second season was announced in January 2023 and began production in May 2024.
2. Burton to Return as One of the Directors
Alfred Gough, co-creator of the series, recently confirmed that Burton will be directing the same number of episodes in season 2. Gough also explained that it was Burton’s love for the show and for Ortega that made him return for Season 2.
“She really loves the show, really enjoys the process, and loves working with Jenna. It’s been amazing. Believe me, we are very happy because I also thought he would say, ‘I’ve done it. Goodbye.’ No, he didn’t,” said the co-creator.
At the moment, we still don’t know which episodes of season 2 Burton will direct. However, Paco Cabezas and Angela Robinson have been tasked with directing the remaining four episodes. Most likely, each of them will direct two episodes, although this information is yet to be confirmed.
Apart from Jenna Ortega, some of the returning players for Wednesday’s second season are Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Hunter Doohan, Victor Dorobantu, Moosa Mostafa, and Georgie Farmer.
In addition, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, and Isaac Ordonez, who previously guest-starred in the first season as Morticia, Gomez, and Pugsley, have now gained main cast status for the second season. Fred Armisen will also return as Uncle Fester.
The first season of Wednesday is currently on Netflix, and a second season is likely to arrive on the platform in 2025.
