Marvel has just released the first trailer for its new animated series titled Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.” Set in a parallel timeline, Peter Parker receives mentorship from Norman Osborn, who is his nemesis, the Green Goblin.
This is different from what we know, where Peter Parker gets guidance from Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In this movie, the actors involved include Hudson Thames who plays the web-slinger who is the main focus, Colman Domingo as Osborn, Kari Wahlgren as Aunt May, and Hugh Dancy as Doctor Octopus.
Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will return to play their characters from Netflix’s “Daredevil” series, while Paul F. Tompkins will appear as Marvel Comics’ iconic villain, The Wizard.
1. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Trailer
The official description of the series states that it is “an animated series that follows Peter Parker’s journey to becoming a hero, with adventures we’ve never seen before and a style that celebrates his roots in the early comics.”
The trailer begins with Paul Francis Webster and Bob Harris’ classic Spider-Man theme song for the 1967 cartoon series.
In this trailer, we get to see two new Spider-Man costumes: one looks casual and fit for a teenage Parker, while the other has a more classic design with a black and white color combination.
The action in this trailer is also very impressive! After defeating some villains who were broadcasting live, Parker took their cell phones and pointed the camera at them trapped in a net.
“Think of it as a donation from a friendly Spider-Man,” Parker said before pointing the camera at himself. “That’s me, yes. I’m Spider-Man.”
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man looks set to bring a whole new feel with an exciting and action-packed alternate storyline. So, make sure you don’t miss this exciting adventure.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will premiere on January 29.
2. Spider-Man Adaptations to the Big Screen So Far
Spider-Man has become one of Marvel’s most profitable characters, especially after Tom Holland portrayed him in the MCU starting in 2016 in Captain America: Civil War.
His presence in five films, including Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), has made him a worldwide icon. The last movie even managed to earn the position as the seventh highest-grossing film in history.
However, before the advent of the MCU era, Spider-Man first appeared in a trilogy directed by Sam Raimi, with Tobey Maguire as the lead in the early 2000s.
Later, Andrew Garfield took over the role in the two reboot films released in 2012 and 2014. The three Spider-Man finally met in an iconic moment in No Way Home, creating memories that fans will always cherish.
Apart from the live action version, Spider-Man also has an animated version that became a movie, namely Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse which has 2 sequels; one of which will be released soon. The movie was also a success both in terms of revenue and reviews from critics and audiences. In fact, we can say this is one of the best animated films of all time.
