Reeves has hinted that there are many other The Batman spinoffs under discussion. The success of The Batman movie has spawned a TV series that is a spinoff of the movie’s story, The Penguin.
The Penguin series itself focuses on the character Oz Cobb, who is one of the villains in The Batman storyline. Many people have praised the series for its interesting storyline. It’s not only serious, but also entertaining and really delves into Oz’s past.
Another The Batman Spinoff Plan
Executive producer Dylan Clark once revealed that there were initial plans for another spinoff set in the “Batman Crime Saga.” And Reeves has now confirmed it.
Andy Serkis, who plays Alfred, asked Reeves if there are plans for a second season of The Penguin. He also wanted to know if Reeves plans to introduce us to Gotham from a different perspective when he interviewed the filmmaker on InterviewMagazine.com.
In the interview, Matt Reeves revealed that other spinoffs of The Batman will also feature stories that focus on characters like The Penguin. “I think the concept of presenting the perspectives of these characters is a very interesting idea.”
Reeves didn’t mention any specific characters, but he did hint that a legal drama centered on Harvey Dent (Two-Face) could be an option. In addition, Reeves also revealed that he feels more free to portray The Penguin with a more mature feel, after feeling some restrictions while working on The Batman.
Reeves explained that he doesn’t just want to present the characters’ stories. According to him, the spinoff series about these characters will show their journey to the point where they can become heroes, villains, or other characters. Reeves also stated that HBO is ready to provide support for his plan.
However, Matt Reeves also revealed that he is committed to making another spinoff that is different. In this case, the plot will not revolve around the origin story as it is often shown. As of now, there is no further information about this project or other planned spinoffs of The Batman.
