Netflix Releases Squid Game Season 2 Teaser

Netflix has officially released the first teaser for Squid Game season 2. The less than 2-minute teaser again features Seong Gi Hun.

Ahead of its release, Netflix has unveiled the first teaser and new poster for Squid Game season 2. In the teaser, viewers will relive the deadly game atmosphere that characterized the first season. But this time with a different feel.

The teaser video for Squid Game Season 2 was first unveiled at Lucca Comics & Games, Europe’s largest Comic Con event, which was attended by thousands of fans eager to watch the latest footage.

The second season is still under the direction of director Hwang Dong Hyuk and will again provide suspense featuring Lee Jung Jae who returns as Seong Gi Hun, the 456 player.

In the teaser, we can see the game from season 1 reappearing. It shows how Gi-hun tries to stop the participants from suffering a bad fate, but his efforts are seen as a trick. They even doubted what he was saying.

Gi-Hun did not try to stop this game or Front Man by stealth. Instead, he did it in an obvious way, by participating back in the game.

He also admitted that he had played before and was directly trying to dissuade them from having a bad fate. Apparently, the people behind the scenes of this game were also aware of Gi-Hun’s presence.

Although Gi-hun claimed that he knew all about the game and was trying to save the other participants, they viewed him as Front Man’s ally. Interestingly, Front Man, who could have easily eliminated Gi-hun, chose to let him continue playing. Ironically, the other participants turned against him.

When the first season of Squid Game was released in 2021, it immediately stole the show and became a huge global phenomenon. It took Netflix just 12 days to make the series the most-watched non-English series in the platform’s history.

This makes Squid Game the first non-English series to make history by winning multiple Emmy awards.

In addition, Squid Game also managed to maintain the top spot worldwide for 10 consecutive weeks. With this impressive achievement, it’s no wonder that Netflix asked director Hwang Dong-hyuk to produce a second season of the series.

The official posters for the second season feature an interesting contrast between the characters of Seong Gi Hun and Front Man (Lee Byung Hun). In one of the posters, Gi Hun is seen standing in front of the rest of the cast, showing his role as a figure trying to lead the cast to choose the path of salvation.

Squid Game season 2 starts airing on Netflix on December 26, 2024.
