6 Villains that Appear in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man puts a twist on the world of Spider-Man, complete with a reimagining of his most iconic villains.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man series presents a new story of Peter Parker that is different from the version in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and some villains that will appear in the story.

With a 1960s feel, the series presents a new relationship between Peter and iconic characters and provides a reinterpretation of his origin story. The first two episodes tease the presence of many Spider-Man villains that may appear in the first season.

The story of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man starts when Peter is still new to his superhero career, so many of Spider-Man’s famous villains have yet to appear and some are even Peter’s friends.

In the context of the MCU Multiverse, some characters may not become villains like in the comics. However, it is possible that classic villains will still show up to fight Spider-Man in their universe.

List of Villains in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

Here are some of the villains from the latest Marvel series titled Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man who will appear in the story.

6. Venom

Episode 1 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, titled Amazing Fantasy, introduced a villain similar to Venom. However, in the episode’s credits, the creature is referred to as Symbiotic Alien, not Venom from an alternate universe.

The alien has a mane on its back and jaws on either side of its mouth, unlike Venom. It falls through a portal and engages in a battle with Doctor Strange, which results in damage to Peter’s school, Midtown High.

Venom is a famous nemesis of Spider-Man from the comics. He is an alien symbiote that was originally a black costume from Spider-Man on Battleworld during Secret Wars. After Spider-Man removed the costume, the symbiote merged with Eddie Brock and transformed into the terrifying villain Venom.

Venom, since he first appeared in comic books, has had several hosts, including Dylan (Eddie’s son), Mac Gargan, and Flash Thompson. In the most recent video game, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Venom is portrayed as Peter Parker’s friend Harry Osborn. In addition, Venom has appeared in various Spider-Man animated series and recently had his own live-action movie with actor Tom Hardy as Venom/Eddie Brock.

5. Screwball

Screwball first appeared in the Spider-Man universe in “Amazing Fantasy,” where Spider-Man saved Harry Osborn from robbers who were broadcasting live. The incident was caught on camera as Spider-Man defeated the robbers.

After capturing the robbers, Spidey commented on their broadcast about the humiliating defeat. Screwball also appeared with an invitation to watch his channel for more interesting content.

Screwball is a supervillain who debuted in The Amazing Spider-Man comics in 2008. He is famous for being the first live-blogging villain, using social media to record and share his crimes for online popularity.

Screwball, a character from the Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) video game, is involved in side missions related to criminal content. She also appears in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and the Marvel’s Spider-Man animated series as Liz Allan, although her identity remains mysterious in the comics and other media.

4. Lonnie Lincoln

Episode 1 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man introduces Pearl Pangan, Peter Parker’s childhood crush. Peter is surprised to find out Pearl is already dating Lonnie Lincoln, the quarterback of the school football team, after waiting too long to ask her out.

Lonnie chose Peter as a partner in science class, indicating his intention to continue his education beyond football. They soon develop a unique friendship. However, when Lonnie returns home from school, he faces prejudice from the community and the police because he lives in a poor neighborhood and his family is struggling.

Lonnie is potentially involved in a tragic storyline as the crime boss, Tombstone, in the comic version. Although he cares for his family and friends, his difficult family situation could make him vulnerable to negative influences, which could lead him to a life of crime.

After Lonnie and Peter Parker established a close relationship, Lonnie’s transformation into a villain in the comic version will be an emotional storyline in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

3. Bentley Wittman

Episode 2, The Parker Luck, features Peter Parker starting work as an intern at Oscorp with his colleagues Amadeus Cho, Asha, and Jeanne Foucalt, under the supervision of Dr. Bentley Wittman. Wittman’s portrayal as a harsh and impatient scientist, who in the comics has a worse nature, as the alter ego of the Wizard, an enemy of The Fantastic Four.

In the comics, Wittman, who has extraordinary intelligence, uses the stage name Wizard to perform extraordinary acts, including in magic. When The Fantastic Four gained fame, Wittman chose the criminal path by posing as a hero to ruin the Human Torch’s reputation.

Wittman’s character shows intelligence and a desire to prove he is better than others. With Oscorp’s scientific resources, it is possible that Wittman will transform into an evil wizard.

2. Carla Connors

After meeting Wittman, the Oscorp interns were transferred to various departments. Peter was placed in the energy research division under Carla Connors, who had a last name familiar to Spider-Man fans and was missing an arm.

Carla is a new version of Curt Connors, known as the Lizard. She is currently focused on an energy project to create a self-sustaining battery, similar to Tony Stark’s arc reactor, which is different from the field of genetics that her colleagues are used to. However, since Oscorp involves multiple disciplines, it is possible that Carla will suffer a similar fate to Curt Connors.

In the comics, Curt Connors tries to grow his arm with lizard DNA, but his experiment turns him into a reptilian monster called the Lizard. The character appeared as an enemy of Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) starring Andrew Garfield, and a version of the Lizard played by Rhys Ifans also appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).

Before Ifans played the character of Connors, the character had already appeared in Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3 directed by Sam Raimi, played by Dylan Baker. In the movie, Connors was a professor at Peter Parker’s college, but never turned into the Lizard.

1. Norman Osborn

The unique surprise of this version of Spider-Man is the portrayal of Norman Osborn as an ally of Peter Parker, even though he is generally known as Spider-Man’s main enemy, the Green Goblin.

Osborn’s green suit in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man shows his true identity from the comic books, and the character is being groomed as a mentor to Spider-Man. A photo in his office shows him standing with Captain America.

The Green Goblin, Spider-Man’s main nemesis, has a rich background in the comics. In the animated series, Norman Osborn is likely to transform into a classic villain, but that change may only happen in Season 2 or 3, given that the series has already been greenlit for three seasons.

The Green Goblin is the only one who knows Peter Parker’s true identity and is responsible for Gwen Stacy’s death. In the movies, this character was played by Willem Dafoe in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man: No Way Home. In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Norman Osborn dies and his son, Harry, takes over as the Goblin.
