Yes, almost 30 years after this classic movie from the ’90s, it’s time for a more modern update. This time, two comedic actors, Jack Black (Kung Fu Panda, School of Rock) and Paul Rudd (Ant-Man, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire), will lead the project, which will give a very different perspective to the franchise.
1. Jack Black and Paul Rudd Announce Anaconda Reboot with a Comedic Twist
Black and Rudd were having fun on the set of Anaconda, before revealing that the film will hit theaters on December 25, 2025. The reboot of the classic movie will have a comedic twist.
With a unique atmosphere from the original version, this reboot is ready to deliver a new experience. An experience filled with laughter and thrilling action.
In the newly released promotional video, Paul Rudd and Jack Black show their hilarious side while announcing the collaboration project. The two are seen embracing warmly before Black pulls out his cell phone to record the promotional video.
“You want to feel fear? Want to laugh? Or celebrate Christmas with friends? Or maybe you’re alone and want to forget your sorrows?” Rudd said in a joking tone. Black then added that there was an anaconda in the next room that would be fed to a donkey, before they both left to watch the action.
This latest reboot will be under the direction of Tom Gormican. Tom Gormican previously helmed the movie The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. With the combined comedic talents of Paul Rudd and Jack Black, this movie is sure to give the Anaconda franchise a new feel.
2. Anaconda Synopsis
The original Anaconda movie, released in 1997, was directed by Luis Llosa and featured stars such as Ice Cube, Jennifer Lopez, Jon Voight, and Owen Wilson. The story in the movie follows a documentary crew exploring the Amazon jungle in search of the legendary green anaconda snake.
Although it was not a huge success at the box office and received a lot of criticism, the movie eventually became a cult classic and spawned several sequels, including Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid (2004) and Lake Placid vs. Anaconda (2015).
Meanwhile, the story of this Anaconda reboot focuses on a group of friends who are going through a mid-life crisis. To relive the good memories of the past, they decide to “remake” their favorite movie and go on an adventure into the rainforest.
However, this journey soon turns into a nightmare as they are faced with various dangers, ranging from ruthless criminals, natural disasters, to giant snakes that threaten their safety.
