While Venom The Last Dance will mark the end of Eddie Brock and Venom’s story, the situation seems to be different for Knull. Based on the information circulating, Venom The Last Dance will actually be the beginning of Knull’s story.
This news was first broken by IGN through an email sent by the film’s director and writer, Kelly Marcel. She stated that Venom The Last Dance will be the starting point for the Knull storyline.
1. Venom The Last Dance is the Beginning for Knull
Venom: The Last Dance introduces Marvel Comics villain Knull into the movie world. However, you don’t have to expect him to be the main enemy in this trilogy.
“One movie can never pay proper homage to Knull,” director and co-writer Kelly Marcel said in an email to IGN.
While Venom: The Last Dance may be the concluding episode of Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock franchise, you need to be prepared because this sequel will also be the first step for Knull’s future appearances.
“We were always aware of Knull’s existence, but we knew that we needed to build the foundation of Venom’s character and his relationship with Eddie before introducing him. This is just the beginning for Knull,” said Marcel.
“We’ve entered spoiler territory and we hope part of the fun of watching this movie is not knowing what’s going to happen. But believe me, we are well aware of how important Knull is to the fans. So, just as we built the foundation for Venom, we hope to do the same for Knull,” he said. “The King in Black is too powerful to just appear once.”
“The movie introduces Knull, but only touches on the beginning of his story,” Marcel adds. “The biggest villains in Marvel movies evolve over time. Here, Knull is the threat lurking behind the danger that tests the absolute limits of Eddie and Venom’s partnership – but their relationship remains at the heart of the story.”
2. Knull will have its own Explore Story in the Future
What Marcel said can be understood in two different ways. First, Venom’s story is not completely over after The Last Dance.
There has been some speculation about whether Venom: The Last Dance will end up in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU). However, there is a possibility that this character will appear in the MCU. Tom Hardy has also revealed that this might be his last chance to play Eddie Brock. But, we still need to wait to see if there will be any further changes.
Secondly, Sony may be planning to release a special movie featuring Knull. After Knull’s appearance in Venom 3, it is likely that this monster will appear in his solo movie.
The director of The Last Dance revealed that the ‘King in Black’ story is too big to be presented just once, so we might see this storyline in future movie projects. We still have to wait to find out if this story will be part of the MCU or SSU.
