James Marsden has given his response to speculation about the possibility of him reprising his role as Cyclops in the upcoming MCU film Deadpool & Wolverine.
Recently, Marsden appeared alongside Michael Keaton, the actor who once played Batman, on The Playlist.
When asked about the possibility of him appearing as Cyclops in Deadpool & Wolverine since he was spotted near the set of the movie, Marsden explained that he was only near the set to finish his work on Sonic 3 and he didn’t want to go into detail about Deadpool 3.
Previously, Marsden played Scott Summers or Cyclops in Fox’s X-Men franchise. Marsden’s last appearance was in the movie X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Marsden Seems to Cover Up His Involvement as Cyclops in Deadpool 3 Movie
In the interview, Marsden seemed to be hiding something that suggests that he will be returning to the role of Cyclops in Deadpool 3.
Although Marsden gave a neutral answer, as if nothing had happened, this only made fans even more suspicious. Marvel Studios itself does want the actors to keep all information about their latest movie a secret.
“I keep hearing about it. I can’t walk down the street without someone asking me, so there’s obviously a lot of talk about it. It’s going to be fun. We’ve just finished Sonic 3 actually. We were near the set of Deadpool there, at Pinewood actually. Yeah, it’s a bit like Pandora’s box.”
While there has been no official announcement regarding his return to the role, his presence near the set of Deadpool 3 or Deadpool & Wolverine has led to speculation that Marsden will appear in the film as a cameo.
Marsden last appeared as Cyclops in X-Men: Days of Future Past after Wolverine changed the timeline and brought him back to life. After that, Fox decided to focus on a younger X-Men team, and the role of Cyclops was taken by Tye Sheridan.
In Fox’s latest X-Men timeline, events would suggest that Marsden’s character no longer exists, but that’s not a big deal for the X-Men franchise.
