Margot Robbie is being considered to play the lead role in the film adaptation of the Avengelyne comic. The comic is a well-known comic and is the work of Rob Liefeld who also created Deadpool.
According to a report from Deadline, Warner Bros is in the final stages of negotiations for the film rights to Avengelyne for a fantastic contract value. Robbie is the top choice for the lead role in the movie project.
Margot Robbie was also previously announced to be a producer for the upcoming project. As LuckyChap Entertainment, Robbie’s studio, is participating in the production of the movie.
Olivia Wilde and Margot Robbie to Collaborate in Avengelyne Movie
The Avengelyne film project will involve talented people, including Olivia Wilde, who is known as the director of several acclaimed films such as Booksmart, who will direct this project. In addition, Tony McNamara will write the screenplay, who has previously contributed as a screenwriter to the movie Poor Things.
Avengelyne’s filmmaking plans have actually been revealed since 2013. The Hollywood Reporter at the time reported that Gina Carano, star of The Mandalorian, was in talks to land the lead role.
In fact, Carano’s participation was confirmed at Comic-Con, where Rob Liefeld signed an illustration featuring Carano as Avengelyne.
Recently, in an interview with Variety, Rob Liefeld shared about the long journey he faced to adapt his character into a movie. He also expressed his enthusiasm in collaborating with Olivia Wilde and Margot Robbie.
“The very difficult journey to bring Avengelyne to the big screen started through my relationship with super producer Simon Kinberg who told me he had the perfect pair for the material and asked me to trust him. The next thing was that I met with Margot Robbie and Olivia Wilde and the relationship was very strong!”
Liefeld then added, “They told me they wanted Tony McNamara to write it, and after a few meetings Tony was already on board and things couldn’t be more thrilling. It’s all down to the magic of Margot, Olivia and Simon working to bring together this incredible creative team, all determined to create an unparalleled cinematic experience!”
