Sonic returns to the big screen this holiday season with the most thrilling adventure yet. Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails unite against a powerful new enemy, Shadow. Shadow is a mysterious villain with powers they’ve never faced before.
With their disparate abilities, Team Sonic must seek out unexpected allies to stop Shadow and protect the planet.
In the latest trailer, Reeves appears as Shadow, who poses a new threat to Sonic and his friends. In addition, the official poster also shows the preparation for the epic battle between Sonic and Shadow.
Chao’s Appearance as a Cameo
Interestingly, this trailer features a cameo from the Sega Dreamcast era that comes from Sonic Adventure, which managed to catch the attention of many. At the 2:28 mark, we see a Chao Garden-themed restaurant with the Chao mascot putting on a show.
For those who don’t know, Chao is a character that was first introduced in Sonic Adventure and is well-loved by Sonic fans.
While the Chao Garden feature hasn’t reappeared in a game since Sonic Adventure 2, Sega has signaled that it might make a comeback in the future.
Will be Released at the End of 2024
With all the exciting elements in place, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 looks to be a movie that both old and new fans are looking forward to. Keanu Reeves’ appearance as Shadow certainly gives the movie added appeal.
Jeff Fowler returns to direct the movie, while the script is written by Pat Casey, Josh Miller, and John Whittington. Besides the leads, the movie also features Jim Carrey, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Krysten Ritter, Lee Majdoub, and many others.
The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on December 20 and will bring back iconic characters like Sonic (Ben Schwartz), Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessey), and Knuckles (Idris Elba).
