Tom Rothman, boss of production house Sony Pictures, has confirmed that Venom 3 will be the final adventure or movie of Venom.
A few months ago, fans had speculated that the title of Venom 3, The Last Dance, would determine whether the movie would have a future.
In this case, the movie would be the last adventure for Venom. And as it turns out, the fans’ speculations were correct.
Venom 3 will be the last Venom movie
Tom Rothman, the head of Sony, revealed in an interview with Deadline at the Cannes Film Festival that Venom 3 will be the last film to feature the character Tom Hardy plays.
However, he assured that the third movie will be a spectacular send-off. Currently, not much information is available about the movie.
However, photos spread on social media some time ago suggest that the film will take place after the events at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The exact reason why this will be the last Venom movie is that Sony might be re-evaluating their long-term plans. Most of Sony’s previous movies have been less than successful.
Sony’s less successful projects
The first two Venom movies were not well-liked by many fans, even though they were commercially successful. Furthermore, we can see that the Morbius movie failed and the latest one is Madame Web.
This is in contrast to the Spider-Man franchise in collaboration with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where Sony will even release a fourth movie.
Sony still has one more movie coming out soon, Kraven the Hunter. However, they also have a few other projects that they are working on, such as the TV series Silk which ended up not airing on Amazon Prime.
It is still unclear whether Sony will bring anything new to the table in this SSU, we will have to wait to find out.
