With the hope that Thunderbolts* can score a big success in the MCU, the upcoming closure of Phase Five still leaves some things that Marvel needs to complete. It is rumored that the Thunderbolts* movie will have reshoots or a re-shooting process.
Under the direction of Jake Schreier, the Thunderbolts* movie hopes to make a significant impact and bring about major changes in the MCU. Thunderbolts* will conclude Phase Five and prepare the way for the upcoming Avengers sequel.
1. Thunderbolts* to Do Reshoots
The year 2025 will be a busy one for Marvel Studios, as they will be launching various projects, including movies and TV series. One of the movies that fans are most looking forward to is Thunderbolts*. This will be the first movie to feature the group of antiheroes introduced by Marvel Studios in the MCU.
According to information from Daniel Richtman, Marvel is planning to do some reshoots for the Thunderbolts* movie in December. However, there is no information regarding the duration of these additional shoots.
Reshoots are common in comic book movie production. This can also be seen in the movie Captain America: Brave New World. The movie has gone through significant additional shooting since the summer after completing filming last year.
Filming for Thunderbolts took place from February to June this year, with various shooting locations. In this movie, we will see a group of antiheroes and former villains who are on a mission for the US Government.
While plot details are still yet to be revealed, the newly released Thunderbolts* trailer gives some clues as to what you can expect. One of the biggest mysteries is the asterisk in the movie’s title, which sparked a lot of speculation among fans as to what it means for the group and the MCU.
2. Feature top actors
Thunderbolts* features an all-star lineup including Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, Lewis Pullman as Bob/Sentry, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina “Val” Allegre de Fontaine.
Schreier, the director, revealed that Yelena Belova is the main character in this movie, which is also confirmed by the latest trailer. The character of the Red Room trainer last appeared in Black Widow, and in Thunderbolts*, she will be in a “certain place” from the beginning of the movie, while facing trust issues.
Meanwhile, Bucky, who serves as the unofficial leader of the group, will reportedly not have a very prominent role in the movie. Some photos from the set and comments from Russell suggest that Bucky works as a government employee in this story.
Thunderbolts* is scheduled to hit theaters on May 2, 2025.
