The next movie project of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, Kraven the Hunter, has officially received an R rating. This information was obtained from the FilmRatings.com website.
The Motion Picture Association has assigned the movie an R rating due to the use of coarse language as well as many scenes of violence and gore. This comes as no surprise to many fans, who have been expecting the movie to get this rating for a long time.
Kraven the Hunter Could Be the First SSU Movie to Have an R Rating
Kraven the Hunter will likely be the first movie in the SSU to receive an R rating, unless the third Venom movie, Venom: The Last Dance, also receives a similar rating. Tom Hardy stated that there is a possibility that the movie will get a rating for mature audiences. This could be a good time for the movie.
Kraven the Hunter is a movie that will feature another antagonist of Spider-Man, Sergei Kravinoff, better known as Kraven. Sony has started the development of this movie project since 2018.
This means that it took them about six years to get the film ready for the big screen. Along the way, the movie also underwent several rewrites before it was finally ready for release.
As you may already know, the Deadpool & Wolverine movie has been a tremendous success with revenues reaching $900 million. In the next few days, the movie has the potential to break the $1 billion mark.
Although Deadpool has released three adult-rated movies, this does not prevent Kraven the Hunter from achieving similar success.
Changeable Release Date
The Kraven the Hunter movie will feature Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who will be bringing the character to life from the comic book adaptation for the third time, following his roles as Kick-Ass and Quicksilver.
Initially, the movie was scheduled to be released in January 2023, but was then delayed to October 2023, and then pushed back again to August 2024.
In early 2024, Sony again changed the release schedule of the movie to December 2024. However, with the release of the official rating for Kraven the Hunter, it seems that Sony will not change the release date of the movie again.
